Warming up to the Volt

When it comes to prospective buyers, a lot are someone iffy on choices such as hybrids and electric vehicles.

We get it. The Volt is amongst one of the more pricier vehicles. And buying a car is generally the 2nd largest financial investment after a home. So, we understand why there would be a lot of weight behind what the general public has to say about vehicles on the market, and why it would be influential.

That’s why when we saw the Consumer Report weigh in, and how critical (fairly) it was about the 2011 Chevy Volt, we someone understood. The more interesting part was the part where, after 7 months of near-constant testing, the CR now has words of praise for the Volt. Finally, they’re warming up.

So in what ways can you actually end up saving money?

1) Drive less than 40 miles per day.

2) Take advantage of charging facilities at work. These can allow you to drive more than 40 miles round-trip.

3) Drive short trips. This saves money on running costs since on short hops, you won’t use any gasoline at all.

4)Stay off the freeway

5) On rural roads, try to keep a 40-45mph speed, while of course observing the speed limit.

In other words, if you want to know whether or not the Volt is the car for you, consider your lifestyle, driving behavior, and electricity costs. And just know, it definitely CAN save you money!

Chevy Colorado gets an upgrade

The next generation Chevrolet Colorado:

GM’s global vehicle line executive Brad Merkel offering this bit of insight:
“Although this is a show vehicle, the basic proportions and form convey the vision for the next-generation Colorado that we will bring to market. It reflects a stylized version of the new truck, one that takes into account rugged dependable truck capabilities for commercial use as well as sophisticated refinement for personal-use needs.”

This bad boy is offering a high-tech looking layout, with digital readouts available in the driver and passenger seats. Though it might look like it only seats two, guess what? Boom, extended cab is available as well.

A high-tech roomy truck for the American working man (and woman). We like.

Has your mind been blown yet?
